Who Am I?
My name is John David Harton and I like making things!
One of my most cherished memories is of Christmas in the mid-90’s.
My grandmother was a brilliant watercolorist. She painted intimate washes of vibrant color that both described and glorified the coastal sunlight that she lived in. One year, my family went out west to visit her for the holidays. It was during that trip that she gifted me something that in hindsight would prove prescient.
When I awoke Christmas morning, a Toymax Metal Molder tabletop toy foundry was waiting for me under the tree. She helped me pour liquid metal into the pre-fabricated molds all day, melting the pewter beads into tiny custom action figures. This is one of my most cherished childhood memories. She showed me that anything I thought of could become a reality with just a little help.
Many years later, after one false-start career in philosophy and a fully-fledged second one in film sound, I decided to make art my full time. It was always there and now it’s a priority.
I’m currently working out of a small garage in the center of Florida with the love and support of my beautiful wife and two “helpful” cats!
Making things makes me happy, and sharing that with the world is my goal!
